Worley awarded London Array Wind Farm contract

Worley, a global provider to the energy chemicals and resources sectors, has been awarded a contract by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) to inspect all turbines, cranes and lifts on the London Array offshore wind farm.

The contract includes the statutory inspections of 175 3.6MW turbines located approximately 20 kilometres off the Kent coast. This scope of work will be delivered by Worley technicians from the Great Yarmouth office.

At 630MW, the London Array Offshore Wind Farm generates enough energy to power over 470,000 homes and displace more 900,000 tonnes of CO2 a year – the equivalent to removing ~300,000 cars from the road each year.

Shaun Poll, Vice President Operations UK for Worley said “I’m delighted that we have been chosen by SGRE to deliver this contract. This not only continues our commitment to the energy transition, but is also strategically important, allowing us to grow our business in the Great Yarmouth area.”

Our highly skilled and experienced inspection teams repeatedly demonstrate their understanding of our client’s expectations, safety culture and policies, and I am positive that we will deliver to SGRE to the same high standard they are used to with our teams.”

Drawing on vast experience in the offshore wind and renewables sector, Worley is currently inspecting more than 70% of the UK’s offshore wind turbines and has installed over 4000 in the past 10 years.
