Worley wins contract with Ithaca for Captain EOR project

Worley has been awarded a two-year contract to provide engineering and procurement (E&P) services to Stage 2 of Ithaca Energy’s Captain Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) project in the central North Sea.

The contract will see the completion of engineering and procurement of equipment packages and will extend Worley’s support of the design of the topsides. This work, together with additional subsea wells and infrastructure, will enhance oil recovery through injection of polymer into the reservoir.

The Captain field is in the UK Sector of the North Sea, around 130 km north of Aberdeen. Captain produces crude oil deposited within several reservoirs. Production began over 20 years ago and through EOR technology developments the field has advanced, supporting life extension.

Worley completed the FEED for Stage 2 of the project last year, which followed the successful execution of Stage 1.Led by Worley’s Aberdeen office and supported by its global integrated delivery team in Hyderabad, India, the contract will secure work for more than 60 onshore personnel.

On the announcement of the contract win, Daniel McAteer Vice President, Aberdeen Operations said,

“Worley’s brownfield experience and commitment to finding sustainable solutions for our customers, further strengthens our existing relationship with Ithaca Energy. The North Sea is a mature and aging basin and doesn’t come without its challenges. We are particularly excited to be involved in the Captain EOR project. This gives us the opportunity to collaborate and face these challenges head on.”
