Maersk Drilling gets four-month extension for Maersk Intrepid

Equinor has exercised two options of two months each for jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid. As a result, the rig is now contracted to Equinor until the end of February 2020. Two options of two months each remain undeclared on the contract.

In the four-month extension period, Maersk Intrepid is expected to be utilised for accommodation activities at the Martin Linge field on the Norwegian continental shelf.

“We appreciate the continued opportunity to contribute to the expected opening of production on Martin Linge in 2020. It’s great to be able to continue our long-standing cooperation with Equinor with this renewed commitment,” says CCIO Morten Kelstrup of Maersk Drilling.

Maersk Intrepid is an ultra-harsh environment XL Enhanced jack-up rig which was the world’s largest jack-up when it was delivered in 2014. It has been deployed in Norwegian waters ever since, previously working on the Sleipner and Hanz fields.
