MarramWind team returns to the north-east for public consultation round two

In person and online events will give as many people as possible the chance to take part in the consultation during October and November

Local people across Aberdeenshire will have another opportunity to get involved and have their say on the proposed MarramWind floating offshore windfarm when the second phase of statutory consultation gets underway next week.

The consultation kicks off on Monday 7 October with an online Q&A session (6pm-7pm), followed by the launch of a virtual exhibition on Wednesday 9 October. The virtual exhibition will run throughout the consultation period.

Public drop-in sessions will also take place in the Peterhead area:

  • Tuesday 29 October 2024, 1pm to 7pm – Palace Hotel, Prince Street, Peterhead AB42 1PL
  • Wednesday 30 October, 1pm to 7pm – Longside Parish Hall, Davidson Park/Station Rd, Longside, Peterhead AB42 4GR.

There will be a second online Q&A session on Thursday 7 November (6pm-7pm) before the consultation closes on Tuesday 19 November.

MarramWind Project Director, Richard Eakin, said: “Since the first round of consultation closed in early July, we’ve been reviewing all the feedback received and it’s great to be coming back to Aberdeenshire so soon.

“We’re committed to being a good neighbour and responsible developer, so that local input and insight is invaluable as we shape and refine our proposals for bringing this exciting clean energy project to life.

“For example, alongside technical and environmental considerations, stakeholder feedback has helped rule out some of the potential locations we were considering for onshore infrastructure. It’s also informed our ongoing discussions with other developers about opportunities for collaboration as well as those with schools and education providers about how we engage and attract the local green workforce of the future.

“This project could make a real difference for the north-east – providing a great green generation boost as well as delivering investment, jobs and supply chain growth. Please take part in our consultation whether you were involved in stage one and want to find out what changes we’ve made or whether you’re coming to the project for the first time. We look forward to hearing from you.”

Find out more and share your feedback on our proposals at www.marramwind.co.uk from Wednesday 9 October.

To take part in either of the live online Q&A sessions on 7 October and 7 November, email  stakeholder@marramwind.com to secure your place.

A joint ScottishPower and Shell project, MarramWind could be one of the first commercial-scale floating offshore windfarms in the world. Located 75km off the north-east coast of Aberdeenshire and with a proposed capacity of 3 GW, it could produce enough homegrown green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 3.5 million homes.
