New Faces On Board: Rystad Energy Boosts Its Metals Expertise With Three Top-tier Experts

Rystad Energy is delighted to announce the hiring of three new members to our expanding global team of experts, each of whom bring significant experience within energy markets and metals.

The energy metals sector is an integral part of both the traditional upstream and the downstream oil and gas industries. It is also closely related to the rapidly emerging renewable energy market, whose fast expansion is placing great challenges on metals suppliers to adjust the way they deliver solutions.

To closely monitor this transition we are boosting our energy services team with these three experienced experts, who will monitor global energy metals markets from our offices in the UK and China.

In the UK, Dr James Ley (middle) and Roman Filimonov (right) carry a collective 40 years’ experience within energy and metals markets. In China we have brought on board Edison Luo (left), a market research and business intelligence expert.

The three have worked together in the past and will be a major boost for Rystad Energy’s knowledge solutions.

James Ley has extensive experience within global energy metals markets. For the past 15 years, James has been a leading analyst in energy steel tube and pipe markets, working for a number of consultancies and metal publishing organizations, including Hatch Beddows Strategy Consulting. He started his career working for leading steelmaker Tata, where he completed an industrial doctorate.

Roman Filimonov has detailed knowledge of the global oil & gas industry and the energy tube & pipe sector. During the past 10 years he has been a consultant for a number of market intelligence firms, including Hatch and MBR. There, he managed strategy projects and research for leading international producers and trading groups, building an extensive network of contacts at the forefront of market developments. Roman has also worked in the steel industry for one the world’s largest tube & pipe producers, Russia’s TMK.

Edison Luo has developed a deep understanding of the energy metals market across the Asia-Pacific region and has worked with major energy and industrial firms in China and the rest of Asia. He brings extensive knowledge in the fields of market research and business intelligence and has studied the global oil and gas industry closely, focusing in particular on how trends affect tube and pipe demand in the upstream and downstream sectors.

Their analysis, insights and reports will be available in a number of Rystad Energy products. Clients and non-clients can apply for access to our Free Solutions and already get a first taste.
