Peterson Energy Logistics donates £20,000 to local charities

Leading international energy logistics provider Peterson has donated £20,000 to Aberdeen Care and Repair and Aberdeen Foyer, following a wide-ranging fundraising campaign throughout 2019.

Staff across Aberdeen and surrounding offices united to raise funds by organising and participating in a variety of bake sales, themed days, raffles, and the annual Christmas dance which saw more than £6,000 raised on the night. Each charity will receive £10,000 to support the important work they do for the local community.

Stuart White, Regional Director at Peterson, said: “I am proud of our team’s fantastic achievement in raising a substantial sum for two very worthy charities, demonstrating our commitment to making a positive difference in our local community. We look forward to continuing with our future fundraising efforts.”

Two different charities are selected by Peterson staff each year for the Aberdeen and surrounding offices and a total of £80,000 has been raised through a variety of fundraising events over the past four years.

These fundraising campaigns are part of the wider ‘Dare to Care’ initiative which benefits the communities Peterson operates in. The programme aims to improve the company’s sustainability performance by focussing on customer relationships, employee development and wellbeing, the environment, and community engagement.

Karen Milne, Manager at Aberdeen Care and Repair Services, said: “We're delighted to receive this generous donation from Peterson, which allows us to continue our work around early home safety intervention and dementia. We encourage older or disabled people to take advantage of our free home assessment to identify any hazards in their home and benefit from our assistance in resolving them. We also provide equipment such as daylight bulbs, dementia-friendly clocks, grab rails and more for the most vulnerable in the local area."

Welcoming the donation, Leona McDermid, Aberdeen Foyer’s Chief Executive, commented: “On behalf of everyone at Foyer, I would like to warmly thank all Peterson staff and the charity committee for raising this amazing sum. We appreciate their outstanding support and are grateful to have been selected as one of Peterson’s charities of the year.

“Our services offer a gateway to change and this substantial donation will support the work we do in helping young people and adults overcome significant life challenges such as mental ill-health, homelessness, poverty and lack of opportunity. With the right support, people can and do, make unbelievable changes in their lives.”

In 2020, Peterson will support Community Food Initiatives North East and Children’s Hospices across  Scotland as the company’s chosen charities of the year.
