We all have a part to play for a sustainable future

Jim Beveridge, CEO, ICR Group

Every individual, organisation and region must play its part in shaping a sustainable future.

Our story at ICR is not just about business growth; it's about embracing change, taking action and contributing to a world where sustainability is not an option but a necessity.

We recently achieved our highest ever turnover figure, and I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished. However, our success is not measured solely in financial terms; it is also testament to our commitment to net zero goals.

In our pursuit of decarbonisation, we've come to understand that incremental progress is just as vital as groundbreaking innovations. We believe in the power of marginal gains, and one of our strategies involves working with partners that share our proactive approach.

Our technological solutions, such as Technowrap and Quickflange, have been instrumental in reducing emissions. Technowrap, for instance, offers life-long repairs that drastically cut emissions compared to traditional replacement methods. Quickflange, on the other hand, provides a cold work solution that eliminates the need for welding, further contributing to carbon reduction.

Our journey towards a viable future extends beyond our products and operations. We understand that being part of the energy transition is not about abandoning existing markets but rather embracing new opportunities as part of a phased approach. While we're working to shift our business mix to include other sectors, we remain committed to oil & gas and leveraging our expertise to make it more sustainable.

This is not just my vision; it's a collective effort within ICR. Our team is the driving force behind our sustainability initiatives, and I'm humbled by their dedication to creating a long-term, viable business. It's not enough for me to steer the ship; the entire crew must share the same commitment.

In broader terms and with COP28 on the horizon, the industry must stand together, unwavering in a commitment to a lower-carbon future. Sustainability is not a choice; it's an obligation we owe to future generations. At ICR, we are proud to be part of this journey.

As we move forward, my goal is clear—to ensure that ICR remains relevant throughout the transition and seizes opportunities in future markets. Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us; it's an integral part of our identity.

We all have a part to play – and together, we can make a meaningful difference.

Jim Beveridge is CEO at ICR Group, which has its headquarters in Aberdeen, UK and operations globally.
