Senior appointment deepens KBR’s digital engineering expertise

As industries face significant challenges in transforming the energy and industrial sectors, while meeting decarbonisation aspirations, innovative and technology-led solutions are urgently needed. To address this, KBR, a leading provider of science, technology and engineering solutions, has made a strategic senior appointment to bolster its digital engineering capabilities and leverage the huge potential of digital solutions.

Andy Webster has been appointed as Director of Digital to lead KBR’s digital engineering team – which is part of KBR’s wider digital team – and help drive value to KBR’s customers of emerging digital technology. This appointment deepens KBR's digital engineering expertise and enhances its ability to provide effective solutions aligned with customer challenges.

Webster, who leads KBR’s delivery of proprietary software and capabilities, brings over 20 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining KBR, he had a diverse career in the energy sector. Webster spent 15 years at Shell in various roles, followed by a position at KBC where he drove digital and software as a service offerings to energy customers globally. Most recently, he served as the Director for Digital at Yokogawa’s European business before taking on his current role at KBR. At KBR, Webster will focus on ensuring the business remains at the forefront of providing the most effective digital solutions in line with customer challenges.

Explaining his vision, Webster said: “The urgency to deliver on the transformation of our energy sector – as we understand and commit to achieving our climate goals – is creating a rapidly accelerating business environment. The emergency of technology that can form part of this response is developing at a staggering pace.

“I believe that this makes the interface of engineering and technology the biggest emerging opportunity for companies and governments looking to shape the low carbon industries of the future. The key to unlocking this opportunity lies in those unique people with the expertise spanning both disciplines. The fact that KBR has such rich resources in both engineering and technology means we are uniquely placed to deliver the type of transformational solutions the industry needs, and it’s why I’m so excited to be taking up this role.

“Our data and information experts are changing the way we do business through technology such as digital cloning, predictive analytics, machine learning and cognitive computing. This is already bringing real value for customers, such as in the field of carbon calculation and reduction, as well as creating next-generation assets like bp’s Azeri Central East platform, which KBR helped to deliver through digital technologies and data-centric processes.”
